EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team allowed a second half goal and fell to McKendree University, 1-0, Friday evening at Strassweg Field. USI goes to 3-10-2 overall and 2-9-2 GLVC, while McKendree watches its records go to 7-9-0 overall, 5-7-0 GLVC.
Prior to the game, USI honored its four seniors – defender
Katelan Carneal (Evansville, Indiana); defender
Maura Hulme (Westerville, Ohio); defender
Racheal Mayse (Evansville, Indiana); and midfielder
Jessica Scott (Louisville, Kentucky).
The Screaming Eagles and the Bearcats battled to a scoreless first half with McKendree producing greater amount of chances, out shooting USI, 8-3.
In the second half, the Bearcats took advantage of a breakdown in the Eagle defense to post the only tally of the game at 61:16. USI would have three chances in the final 28 minutes, but could not find the back of the McKendree goal.
USI has two matches remaining in the 2014 regular season schedule, one on the road and one at home. The Eagles hit the road to the University of Illinois Springfield Sunday at noon before concluding the season Wednesday at 5 p.m. when they host Bellarmine University at Strassweg Field.
