SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team was unable to overcome a pair second-half goals by 18
th-ranked Drury University and lost a 2-0 decision Friday evening in Springfield, Missouri. The Screaming Eagles fall to 5-6-2 overall and 4-5-2 in the GLVC, while the Panthers finish the evening 11-2-0, 9-2-0 GLVC.
The Eagles were outshot during the first 45 minutes of the match, 6-2, and battled the Panthers to a 0-0 tie through the intermission. Both squads had a pair of corner kicks during the opening half.
In the second half, the Panthers were the first to strike and took a 1-0 lead at the 55:03 mark. Drury would seal the match on a re-start at 86:11 and gave the match its final score of 2-0.
The Eagles complete the road swing at Missouri University of Science & Technology Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Rolla, Missouri. USI has two more home matches on the schedule for 2014 with McKendree University visiting October 24 and Bellarmine University coming to Strassweg Field on October 29.
