EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team was grounded by Rockhurst University, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI goes to 3-7-2 overall and 2-6-2 GLVC, while Rockhurst watches its records go to 10-1-2 overall, 7-1-2 GLVC.
USI fell behind early in the opening half as Rockhurst scored at the 4:02 mark. The Hawks would increase the lead to 2-0 before the intermission with a tally at 36:57.
In the second half, Rockhurst increased the margin to three goals with a tally at 49:03. USI would get onto the scoreboard at 84:34 when senior midfielder
Jessica Scott (Louisville, Kentucky) converted a penalty kick. The goal was Scott's first of the season.
The Screaming Eagles return to the road next weekend when they travel to Drury University October 17 at 5 p.m. and Missouri University of Science & Technology October 19 at noon. USI has two more home matches on the schedule for 2014 with McKendree University visiting October 24 and Bellarmine University coming to Strassweg Field on October 29.
