In the game, USI raced out to a 17-point advantage midway through the opening half. The Eagles would maintain the double-digit margin through most of the first half, before the Pumas sliced into the lead and cut the margin to nine points, 43-34, at the intermission.

The second half saw the Eagles take back the momentum and extend the lead to 24 points in the first six minutes, 64-40, and never looked back. The Pumas would get the Eagles' lead under 20 points few times in the final 10 minutes, but would get no closer than 17 points, 95-78, with 19 seconds left to play. USI would go on to lead by as many as 27 points, 87-60, before settling for the 19-point win. 97-78.

As a team, USI bounced back from its 0-for-11 three-point shooting slump in the loss to Drury University last weekend to hit seven field goals from long range, including six-of-its-first-eight attempts. The squad also posted a 62.7 percent field goal percentage (42-67) overall.

The Eagles complete the four-game homestand Saturday at 3:15 p.m. when they host the 14th-ranked University of Indianapolis. The Greyhounds also rose to 12-1 overall and 4-1 in the GLVC after upsetting second-ranked Bellarmine University, 81-79, tonight in Louisville, Kentucky, tonight.

USI also will celebrate the 20th-anniversary of the 1993-94 men's basketball team that was the NCAA Division II Tournament's national finalist.
