PENSACOLA, Florida---- The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team was unable to sustain the momentum it gained with a second-set win, falling short of a comeback in Saturday's 25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18 loss to No. 4 University of Minnesota-Duluth.

The Screaming Eagles fell to 1-2 overall, but despite the loss posted big numbers in its first game on the final day of the University of West Florida Hemingway's Invitational.

Sophomore right side hitter Erica Oberbroeckling led the attack in game one with 11 kills, while senior libero Kayla Heldman had 17 digs.

USI tallied 13 team blocks thanks in part to sophomore middle blocker Abbey Winter who had a team-high eight block assists.

The Bulldogs came out swinging in the opening set, grabbing a 21-9 lead forcing USI to call a timeout. Winter put down a kill to interrupt the run. Junior outside hitter Lauren DeShaney followed, but it wasn't enough to stop UMD from grabbing the first set.

In the second set USI moved out to a 10-6 lead and an eventual set-win taking advantage of Bulldog errors while utilizing the offensive efforts of Oberbroeckling and DeShaney.

USI plays their final game of the tournament at 4:30 p.m. (CDT) against No. 18 Wheeling Jesuit University.
