EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team rings in the New Year Friday at 5:30 p.m. when it opens its 18-game Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule against Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. The Screaming Eagles also visit William Jewell College Sunday at 1 p.m. in Liberty, Missouri.

Anna Hackert had 21 points in the Screaming Eagles' 90-64 win over Trevecca Nazarene University the previous night.
Hackert leads the Eagles and ranks second in the GLVC with 19.3 points per contest. She also is collecting a team-best 7.5 rebounds per outing, good enough for sixth in the league, while Carpenter is chipping in 14.3 points and a team-high 3.5 assists per game.
Rockhurst enters the weekend with a 5-4 overall record and an 0-1 mark in GLVC play, while William Jewell, which hosts Bellarmine University Friday, is 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the GLVC.
USI leads the all-time series with Rockhurst, 7-4, but is 0-1 all-time against William Jewell. The Eagles lost their previous meetings to both teams, dropping a 63-47 decision at Rockhurst January 14, 2012 and a 60-55 contest at William Jewell January 12, 2012.
