EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team opens its regular-season schedule Saturday at noon when it hosts NAIA foe Asbury University at the Physical Activities Center.
USI, which is receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Division II Preseason Top 25 Poll, is looking for a win in its season-opener for the fifth straight year.
The Screaming Eagles are coming off a 78-68 exhibition setback to the University of Evansville at the Ford Center this past Saturday.

Stephanie Carpenter scored 20 points to lead the Eagles, while junior forward
Anna Hackert added 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Asbury, which will count Saturday's game as an exhibition, is off to a 2-1 start following wins over Ohio University-Lancaster and Ohio Christian University this past weekend and a 78-62 loss to Union College Tuesday night. The Eagles, who visit Kentucky Wesleyan College for an exhibition Friday night, were led by sophomore guard Catie Fletcher's 23.0 points per game in their victories and by Annissia Wood's 16 points in their loss to Union.
Saturday's contest is the first-ever meeting between USI and Asbury and is the first of four straight home games for the Screaming Eagles.
