EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- University of Southern Indiana junior outside hitter Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) slammed 13 kills to the floor, sporting a fiery .367 hitting percentage while junior outside hitter Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, Wisconsin) connected 11 of her 20 attack attempts for a .500 average in a convincing three-set sweep for the Screaming Eagles (22-6, 13-2 GLVC) over visiting University of Missouri-St. Louis (15-13, 8-7 GLVC) on Sunday afternoon in the Physical Activities Center. As a team, USI hit .294 while holding the Tritons to .183.

Down 7-4 in the opening frame, USI got it together, going on a 5-0 to take a 9-7 lead and held the front position the rest of the game. Back-to-back kills from Ryan and sophomore right side hitter Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, Indiana) would end the set in favor of USI, 25-14.

UMSL established itself early in the second set, grabbing a 4-0 lead. But yet again, the Eagles managed to power through with an 8-1 run to take over the visiting Tritons. After a timeout to slow the game down, Missouri-St. Louis came back to tie it up at 13-13. With USI up 23-18, a kill by freshman middle blocker Amy Zwissler (Bloomington, Indiana) put the Eagles in the set-point position, but the Tritons stalled the host's attack and collected two points to try and stay in the game. Ryan came up with a big kill off a pass from senior setter Jorae Bradbury (Decatur, Indiana) to end the set 25-22.

An attack error by the Tritons and a kill apiece by Oberbroeckling and senior defensive specialist Kristy Gerardot (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) gave the Eagles a 3-0 advantage. USI held its lead throughout the set, though UMSL did not go down without a fight and tied the score 21-21. After a timeout, the Eagles went on a 4-1 run to take the set, 25-22, and complete the 3-0 sweep.

Defensively, senior libero Kayla Heldman (Greenwood, Indiana) led with a match-high 15 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Abbey Winter (Germantown, Indiana) came up with four blocks. Bradbury tallied a match-high 35 assists, three service aces and two blocks.
