Cedarville, Ohio--- University of Southern Indiana junior outside hitter Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, Wisconsin) slammed a match-high 15 kills down and finished the night with a blistering .480 attacking percentage as the Screaming Eagles swept Cedarville University, 3-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday night in Cedarville, Ohio.

USI, who handed the Yellow Jackets their first home loss this season, improves to 18-6 overall, while CU falls to 15-13.

Senior setter Jorae Bradbury (Decatur, Indiana) registered her sixth double-double of the season leading with 33 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Abbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois) had a big night at the net totaling seven blocks.

It took a while for the Eagles to find their offensive rhythm in the first set. Tied at 6-6, USI got the break it was looking for going on a 7-1 run. The Yellow Jackets called a timeout to slow the game down and came back to the court slamming two balls down to the hardwood. Winter responded with a kill right through a Cedarville block to steal the momentum back in favor of the Eagles. CU suffered from four of their eight service errors in the remaining of the set watching USI run away with a 25-23 win.

Although DeShaney picked up the first point of the second frame, the Yellow Jackets powered through to grab a 9-4 advantage. After a quick timeout, CU was in danger of losing their lead as the Eagles went on a 4-0 run. It was a back-and-forth battle the rest of the set as no team lead by more than two points. Tied at 24-24, DeShaney and fellow junior outside hitter Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) sealed the win for the Eagles with one kill apiece.

Down two games to none, the Yellow Jackets picked up an early 12-10 lead in hopes of stopping both USI's offense and defense from putting points on the board. Later in the set, Senior libero Kayla Heldman (Greenwood, Indiana) dished out perfect passes to Bradbury so Ryan and Winter, along with sophomore right side hitter Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, Indiana) and freshman middle blocker Amy Zwissler (Bloomington, Indiana) could slam enough kills over the net to end the set in favor of the Eagles, 25-20.

USI returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference action Saturday at 5 p.m. when it visits Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri. The Eagles conclude regular-season road play the following day against Quincy University at 1 p.m.
