INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana senior midfielder Jeffrey McClure (Indianapolis, Indiana) scored four goals to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 5-1 victory over the University of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis, Indiana. USI rises to 7-3-0 overall and 6-2-0 in the GLVC, while UIndy goes to 4-6-1, 3-4-1 GLVC.
 
The Eagles have won five-straight matches for the first time since 2003 when they had a six-match streak.
 
USI struck for its first two goal midway through the first half. Sophomore midfielder Carlos Mayser (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) gave USI a 1-0 lead on his first goal as an Eagle off a pass from senior midfielder Austin Andrekus (St. Charles, Illinois) at 28:39. Then McClure went to work.
 
McClure  put USI up 2-0 with a tally at 32:58, heading in a free kick from junior midfielder Corey Fundenberger (Lebanon, Indiana).The Eagles would take the 2-0 lead into locker room at halftime.
 
After the intermission, McClure increased the USI margin to 3-0 when he kicked in a corner kick from freshman defender Lucas Woodford (Newburgh, Indiana) at 53:08 of the second half. The Greyhounds would get one of the goals back at 57:16, but McClure sealed the USI victory with his third and fourth goals of the game at 65:40 and 69:55. 
 
McClure's four goals were a single game career-best and brought his season-total to a team-high six. The four goals also were one short of the USI single-game record of five set by Michael Corday in 1986.  
 
On the Eagles' defensive side of the field, junior goalkeeper Jeffrey Neidlinger (Carmel, Indiana) allowed the single Greyhound goal and made eight saves in the win.
 
USI returns to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field for a two-match homestand next weekend when it hosts William Jewell College and Rockhurst University. Start time October 5 versus WJC is 5 p.m., while kick off October 7 with Rockhurst is noon.
