USI adds seven to 2012 roster

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team has made seven additions to the Screaming Eagles' 2012 roster. Committing to USI and Head Coach Mat Santoro are forward Brock Harvey (Newburgh, Indiana); midfielders Josh Weinzapfel (Evansville, Indiana), Logan Ball (Newburgh, Indiana), and Joey Davis (Cedar Lake, Indiana); and defenders Brandon Potts (Henderson, Kentucky), Alex Jenison (Evansville, Indiana), and Lucas Woodford (Newburgh, Indiana).
 
Biographical information on the signees:
 
Harvey: A senior and five-time letterwinner in soccer and track at Castle High School (Newburgh, Indiana)...named first-team All-Conference, All-Metro, and All-District as a senior in 2011...CHS offensive MVP in 2011 with 48 points on 20 goals and eight assists...earned second-team All-Conference honors after posting 25 points on 12 goals and one assists as a junior...finished his four-year high school career with 117 points  on 52 goals and 13 assists...helped CHS to the sectional and regional titles in 2011.
 
Ball: A senior and three-year letterwinner in soccer at Castle High School (Newburgh, Indiana)...named second team All-Conference and co-captain as a senior in 2011...helped CHS to the sectional and regional crowns in 2011.
 
Davis: A senior and three-year letterwinner in soccer at Crown Point High School (Crown Point, Indiana)...named All-Duneland Conference in 2011 after recording 18 points on four goals and 10 assists...also had 16 points on four goals and eight assists as a junior in 2010...helped CPHS to the 2011 Indiana Class 2A championship...member of the Indiana Olympic Development Program...played for the Chicago Fire and the Millennium Football Club.
 
Jenison:  Transferred to USI in January after two seasons at Belmont College...recorded nine points in 18 matches last season on four goals and one assist...played in all 18 matches for Belmont as a sophomore...a four-year letterwinner at Central High School prior to playing at Belmont...finished his prep career at CHS with 130 points on 47 goals and 36 assists...posted 40 points as a senior on 15 goals and 10 assists...named honorable Mention All-State as a  senior at MDHS.
 
Potts: Transferred to USI after one year at Murray State University where he played football...graduated from Henderson County High School (Henderson, Kentucky)...lettered six times during his tenure at HCHS, playing soccer, basketball, and football...was named second-team All-State and Region Most Valuable Player as a senior...set the HCHS single-season record for goals with 33...ranks second all-time at HCHS with 72 career goals.
 
Weinzapfel: A senior and four-time letterwinner in soccer and basketball at Mater Dei High School (Evansville, Indiana)...earned second-team All-State recognition as a senior...also named All-District, All-City, and All-Conference in 2011...earned All-City and All-Conference honors in 2009...helped MDHS to the 2011 Indiana state finals and the regional and sectional championships last fall...member of the 2010 Olympic Development Region II championship team...also played for the Evansville Soccer Club, which won Indiana State Cup.
 
Woodford: Senior and three-time letterwinner in soccer and track at Castle High School (Newburgh, Indiana)...named Academic All-State in 2010-11 and 2011-12...named CHS Defensive Player of the Year the last two seasons...also earned first-team All-Metro and All-Conference honors in 2011...picked up a second-team All-District award in 2011...member of the Indiana Olympic Development Program 2009 to 2011...member of the Evansville Soccer Club 2010 Indiana state championship team.
