Jordan, Callison record NCAA marks at Mt. SAC

WALNUT, Calif.—University of Southern Indiana men's track and field juniors Michael Callison and Michael Jordan recorded NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Thursday night at the 54th annual Mt. SAC Relays.

Callison was ninth in the Open B competition of the steeplechase with a season-best time of nine minutes, 5.60 seconds, while Jordan was 11th in the Open A competition of the steeplechase with a time of eight minutes, 59.08 seconds.

Jordan, who posted a school-record and NCAA II automatic qualifying time of eight minutes, 55.16 seconds earlier this season, will compete at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships for the second time in his career next month. Callison also is looking to advance to the national meet in the steeplechase for the second time after qualifying for nationals last season.

Both Callison and Jordan competed in the 1,500 meters Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California. Jordan finished 25th in the 88-competitor field with a time of three minutes 54.27 seconds, while Callison was 31st with a time of three minutes, 56.10 seconds.

Sophomore Erika Wilson missed a provisional qualifying time in the women's 10,000 meters Thursday night at the Mt. SAC Relays by less than five seconds. Wilson was 20th in the Open A competition of the event with a time of 36 minutes, 44.45 seconds. Fellow classmate Kaylee McClanahan was 29th in the Open B competition of the 10,000 meters with a time of 38 minutes, 33.74 seconds.

The Screaming Eagles are scheduled to return to action April 28 at the Bellarmine Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.
