CARBONDALE, Ill.—Sophomore distance runner
Seth O'Laughlin finished first in the 3,000 meters Saturday to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team to a sixth-place finish at the Southern Illinois University Saluki Invitational.
O'Laughlin, whose win was the first of his career at any level, completed the race in eight minutes, 46.64 seconds as he finished ahead of 19 other competitors. His victory also was the first of the season for both the USI men's and women's track and field teams.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles had eight top-10 performers and three top-five showings as they finished with 23 points. Junior distance runner

Will Cox posted fifth-place finishes in the 800 meters and the 3,000 meters, respectively.
The Eagles return to action February 10-11 when they compete at the Hoosier Hills Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana, as well as the Grand Valley State University Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan.
