EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Kentucky State University at the Physical Activities Center. USI also returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference action when it visits the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday at 5 p.m. and Maryville University Sunday at 1 p.m. in St. Louis, Missouri.
Live stats for all three matches as well as video for Tuesday's match can be accessed at gousieagles.com.
The Screaming Eagles (10-11, 7-2 GLVC), who rose above the .500 mark for the first time this year with a three-set victory over Northern Michigan University this past Friday at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover, are looking to bounce back from four-set losses to Wayne State University and No. 21 Ferris State University.
Returning to the PAC could be the cure for a banged up squad that played its final two matches of the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover without a true right side hitter. The Eagles are a perfect 6-0 at home this season and are 23-4 at the PAC since 2010.
Kentucky State (12-15) has lost two consecutive matches after winning five straight to begin October. USI, which swept Kentucky State in 2010 at the PAC and in 2011 in Frankfort, Kentucky, is 8-0 against the Thorobreds since 1989.
Missouri-St. Louis (8-13, 5-4 GLVC) is coming off a 2-1 effort at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover this past weekend and is 3-1 at home this year. The Tritons defeated the Eagles in four sets last year in a non-conference match in St. Louis.
Maryville (3-18, 1-8 GLVC), which hosts Missouri Baptist University Thursday night and Kentucky Wesleyan College Saturday night, snapped a four-match skid with its win over Lake Erie College at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover. USI is 3-0 all-time against the Saints as it recorded straight-set wins in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
This weekend's matches are the final intra-division contests for the Eagles this season. USI starts the second half of its GLVC East Division slate October 26 when it hosts the University of Indianapolis in its “Dig for the Cure” match.
