EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team opens its 2011 Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule Friday at 7 p.m. when it travels to Romeoville, Illinois, to take on East Division foe and No. 14 Lewis University.
USI (2-2, 0-0 GLVC) also visits East Division opponent University of Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at 3 p.m. in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to close out its first GLVC road trip of the season. The Screaming Eagles are coming off an opening weekend that saw them get straight-set victories over Lake Superior State University and Upper Iowa University at the Ferris State University Invitational. USI, though, suffered straight-set losses to California University of Pennsylvania and Ferris State.

Fawn Ryan were named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 3.92 and 2.10 kills per set, respectively. LaGrange hit .265 while recording 0.75 blocks and 4.58 points per frame.
Sophomore libero
Kayla Heldman also had a big opening weekend as she averaged 4.42 digs per set, including 5.17 digs per frame in USI's last two matches.
Lewis, the defending GLVC champion, opened its season with a 3-1 mark in Florida, including a 2-1 record at the University of Tampa Classic. The Flyers posted wins over Eckard College, Colorado Christian University, and Tiffin University; while their only set-back was to No. 4 Tampa.
Junior outside hitter Colleen Mitros led Lewis with 4.50 kills and a .344 attacking percentage, while sophomore libero Amy Choi averaged a team-best 3.27 digs per frame.
Wisconsin-Parkside (0-4) also opened the season at the Ferris State Invitational last weekend. The Rangers suffered a non-conference loss to Drury University to begin the weekend. They also suffered setbacks to Ferris State, California-Pennsylvania, and Upper Iowa.
Senior right side hitter Addie Kramer led the Rangers, who host the University of St. Francis (Illinois) and Kentucky Wesleyan College Thursday and Friday, respectively, with 2.53 kills per set and a .267 attacking percentage.
USI, which hosts Lewis and UW-Parkside in late October, is looking for its first victory over the Flyers since 2005, a losing streak that spans the last seven meetings. The Eagles are looking for their 14th consecutive win over UW-Parkside, a winning streak that dates back to 2000.
