EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Fans can get their first glimpse of the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team Saturday at 3 p.m. when the Screaming Eagles play the USI volleyball alumni in a scrimmage at the Physical Activities Center.
USI, which went 18-12 overall and 10-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play last season, is looking for its second straight trip to the NCAA II Tournament in 2011. The Eagles return nine players, including five starters, from a team that finished third in the GLVC regular-season standings.
Senior middle blocker
Danielle LaGrange leads USI's returning players after finishing second in in the GLVC in both kills and points per set. LaGrange's efforts on the court landed her a spot on the AVCA and the Daktronics All-Midwest Region first teams as well as the NCAA II Midwest Region All-Tournament team.
The Eagles also return sophomore setter
Jorae Bradbury and sophomore middle blocker
Emily Diedrich to their 2011 roster. Bradbury averaged just over 10 assists per set a year ago, while Diedrich was second on the team with a .295 attacking percentage.
Senior defensive specialist
Krista Coccaro and sophomore defensive specialist
Kayla Heldman will help the Eagles against their opponents' attack in 2011. Heldman led USI with 3.48 digs per set last season, while Coccaro chipped in 2.48 dig per set.
