The Screaming Eagles (20-2, 12-2 GLVC) eclipsed the 20-win barrier during the first leg of the road swing with a 20-point win at Rockhurst University and a 29-point win at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Senior center
Mohamed Ntumba (Kinshasa, Congo) led the Eagles in the 81-61 win at Rockhurst with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while senior guard #C.J. Trotter# (Hopkinsville, Kentucky) dropped in a game-high 26 points in the 79-50 victory at UMSL.
Trotter sits on top of the USI scoring column with 14.7 points per game this season, while Ntumba leads USI in GLVC-only contests with 14.1 points per outing. Ntumba also is averaging a team-high 8.6 rebounds in conference games, 8.8 boards per contest overall.
The Eagles, as a team, have won four in a row and are 8-0 away from the Physical Activities Center this season.
In the GLVC, USI needs a win or a loss by either Kentucky Wesleyan College or UMSL to earn the right to host a first round game in the league tournament on February 26. The Eagles remained second in the East Division after last week's wins, two games behind front-running Bellarmine University.
The Greyhounds of UIndy (17-5, 10-4 GLVC), who dropped out of the top 25 poll this week, welcome the Eagles after winning four of their last five games and 14 of the last 17 contests. UIndy also posted its first win at the PAC since 1982 in January with a last second 70-68 victory over USI.
UIndy senior guard Darius Adams continues to lead the Greyhounds and the GLVC with 23.5 points per contest. He also had a game-high 19 points in the win last month at the PAC.
The Eagles lead the all-time series, 48-16, and owns a 16-3 advantage since 2000. USI also has had luck in Nicoson Hall, winning five of the last eight on the home floor of the Greyhounds.
Following Thursday's game at UIndy, the Eagles return to the Tri-State to play long-time rival Kentucky Wesleyan College Monday in Owensboro, Kentucky. The Panthers (15-6, 8-6 GLVC), who are 3-4 in their last seven games, travel to NKU and UIndy over the weekend before hosting the Eagles.
The Eagles won the first round this season against the Panthers, 93-64, in January at the PAC. KWC, however, leads the all-time series, 46-35, but USI has won the last five at the Sportscenter since 2000.
