EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The fifth-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team hits the road for the first time in the 2011-12 regular season as the Screaming Eagles begin a four-game road swing and open Great Lakes Valley Conference action. USI opens GLVC play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, and concludes the first weekend of league play at 3 p.m. Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Somers, Wisconsin.
The USI match-ups with Lewis and UW-Parkside mark the first games between the Eagles and the new GLVC East Division. Lewis and UW-Parkside were members of the GLVC North Division last year.
The Eagles (4-0, 0-0 GLVC) are flying high after starting the year with four-straight home wins and are ranked fifth in the first NABC/Division II Top 25 poll of the regular season. USI has outscored its opposition 79-52.8 through four games, an average advantage of 26.2 points per contest.

Brandon Hogg (Edwardsville, Illinois) leads four Eagles in double figures with 20.0 points per contest. Sophomore forward
Taylor Wischmeier (Brownstown, Indiana), who scored a career-high 19 points in the win over Malone University, follows Hogg with 12.5 points per game. Hogg and Wischmeier also lead the team in rebounding with 6.3 boards per game each.
Rounding out the double-figure scorers are junior guard
Melvyn Little (Louisville, Kentucky) and sophomore guard
Lawrence Thomas (Springfield, Illinois), who are posting 10.5 and 10.0 points per contest, respectively. Thomas is tops on the team with 6.0 assists per contest.
Lewis (4-0, 0-0 GLVC) also has started the year with four-straight wins with an average winning margin of 16.3 points per contest. Flyers' senior guard Chris McClellan and senior forward/center Matt Toth lead Lewis with 13.5 and 13.0 points per outing, respectively. Toth also leads the team in rebounding with 5.3 boards per appearance.
USI leads the all-time series with Lewis, 38-21, with the teams battling to a 4-4 draw in Romeoville since 2000. The Eagles also have won 15 of the last 21 meetings, including last season, 75-71, at the Physical Activities Center.
UW-Parkside (4-1, 0-0 GLVC) began the season with three home wins before splitting a pair of games on the road in Michigan. Sophomore guard Jordan Mach and senior guard Leneal Harris lead the Rangers with 14.6 and 14.0 points per game.
The Eagles hold a 24-7 overall series advantage with the Rangers and have won six of the last eight meetings at UW-Parkside. USI is 15-3 against UW-Parkside since 2000, including a 93-81 victory at the PAC last year.
