EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana sophomore forward
Taylor Wischmeier (Brownstown, Indiana) scored a career-high 19 points as the 12
th-ranked Screaming Eagles soared over Malone University, 83-47, in the second game of the Bill Joergens Memorial Classic at the Physical Activities Center Friday night. USI dashes to a 3-0 start in the 2011-12 campaign, while Malone falls to 2-2.
Wischmeier displayed a balanced attack for the Eagles, scoring 10 points in the first half and nine points in the second half. He was a red hot 9-of-12 from the field, while dropping in his only free throw attempt.

The sophomore forward has set or tied a career-high for points in each of his three games this season.
In addition to Wischmeier, three additional Eagles posted double figures on the scoreboard. Senior guard
Brandon Hogg (Edwardsville, Indiana) was second on the team with 15 points, while sophomore guard
Travis Jones (Carmi, Illinois) and freshman forward
Austin Davis (Freeport, Illinois) came off the bench to post 10 points each.
After scoring the first bucket of the game, USI trailed Malone briefly, 3-2, before methodically building a 17-point lead, 41-24, by halftime. The Eagles shot 54.3 percent from the field in the first half (19-35) and held the Pioneers to 34.8 percent from the outside (8-23).
The second half saw the Eagles continue their dominance as they outscored the Pioneers, 42-23, in the final stanza. USI posted its largest lead of the game with 37 second remaining, 83-45, before settling for the 83-47 final.
USI finished the game by shooting 52.4 percent from the field (33-63) and recorded a near-perfect night at the free line by hitting 14-of-15. The Eagles also controlled the boards, out rebounding the Pioneers, 47-19.
In Friday's first game of the Bill Joergens Memorial Classic, the preseason top-ranked Knights of Bellarmine University remained unbeaten with a 79-69 victory over Indiana University Southeast. The Knights rise to 4-0 this season, while the Grenadiers fall to 5-3.
The Bill Joergens Memorial Classic concludes Saturday when Bellarmine plays Malone at 1 p.m. and USI tips off against IU Southeast at 3:15 p.m. The Eagles' game on Saturday marks the end of the season-opening four-game homestand.
