EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team attacked at a blistering .512 pace in a 25-10, 25-12, 25-17 rout of Midwest Region foe Urbana University to close out Screaming Eagles' regular-season home schedule Tuesday night at the Physical Activities Center.
Senior middle blocker
Danielle LaGrange led the Screaming Eagles with 15 kills and a .714 attacking percentage, while freshman outside hitter
Lauren DeShaney smashed down 10 kills and a .471 attacking percentage.
Junior setter
Ashley King had 25 assists in just two sets, while sophomore setter
Jorae Bradbury racked up 15 assists in the opening frame that saw the Eagles hit a match-high .542.
The Eagles (19-8) kept the Blue Knights (8-22) off balance throughout the match with a strong serving game that featured 11 service aces. LaGrange and DeShaney were among seven Eagles to record an ace and among four USI players to finish with two aces.
Defensively, the Eagles held Urbana to a .192 attacking percentage and just 22 kills. Freshman defensive specialist
Candace Timberlake led the Eagles with a match-high 11 digs, while LaGrange and sophomore libero
Kayla Heldman each finished with seven digs.
USI, which is 13-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, closes the regular season this weekend when it visits No. 18 Northern Kentucky University Friday at 6 p.m. (CDT) in Highland Heights, Kentucky, and Bellarmine University Saturday at 2 p.m. in Louisville, Kentucky.
