Eagles square off with Rangers Sunday
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team hits the road for the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament when it visits the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at noon Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. USI enters the tournament as the sixth seed, while UW-Parkside is seeded third.
The Screaming Eagles are making their third-straight appearance, ninth overall, in the GLVC Tournament. USI also is looking to break a string of four straight first-round losses in the GLVC Tournament.

The Eagles and the Rangers battled to a 0-0 double-overtime draw during the regular season in Kenosha. UW-Parkside dominated the numbers, out shooting USI, 31-10, and posting an advantage in corner kicks, 4-1.
The first match also resembles the all-time series between the two programs that is knotted up at 8-8-2 over the last 16 years.
USI has been on a roll in the last eight matches, going 6-1-1 and winning three of four overtime matches. The Eagles also have gotten the job done on the road, posting a 2-1-1 mark after starting the season 0-5-1 away from Strassweg Field.
Offensively, sophomore forward
Susan Ellsperman (Newburgh, Indiana) leads the way with 14 points on five goals and four assists. Freshman forward
Makenzie Brinker (Evansville, Indiana) follows Ellsperman in the scoring column with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
Tied for third on the team in goals scored is sophomore forward
Julia Kohnen (Florissant, Missouri). Kohnen has four goals on the season and all four have been game-winning tallies.
Senior midfielder/forward
Meagan Kempf (Evansville, Indiana) jumped up the USI scoring list after a seven-point performance Tuesday against Kentucky Wesleyan College. Kempf, who tied a USI single-game record with three assists versus KWC, is third on the team with 10 points on two goals and a team-best six assists.
Between the posts, senior goalkeeper
Stephanie Bodamer (Highland, Indiana) directs the USI defense. Bodamer has a 1.15 goals against average and six shutouts in 2011.
