LaGrange nears milestone as Eagles
begin seven-match homestand

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team begins its longest homestand of the year Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it hosts future Great Lakes Valley Conference member McKendree University at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (13-7, 9-2 GLVC) resumes conference play Friday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Saint Joseph's College Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. when it welcomes nationally-ranked University of Indianapolis into the PAC. Live stats and video for all three matches can be accessed at gousieagles.com.

Senior middle blocker Danielle LaGrange, who is averaging a team-best 4.45 points per set on the strength of a team-high 3.69 kills and 0.85 blocks per frame, enters the week in need of 21 kills to reach 1,000 in her USI career. LaGrange, who had 22 kills as a freshman at Indiana University, eclipsed the 1,000-kill plateau for her collegiate career in USI's loss to No. 8 Hillsdale College Saturday.

LaGrange's first opportunity at 1,000 in a USI uniform comes against a McKendree squad that is 7-19 overall. The Bearcats, who are 0-6 against GLVC competition this year, are coming off a five-set victory over Greenville College this past Friday.

Saint Joseph's (9-11, 2-9 GLVC), which won two of its three matches at last weekend's GLIAC/GLVC Crossover, is looking to avenge a three-set home loss at the hands of USI earlier this season. The Eagles hit .315 as a team and posted game scores of 25-10, 25-22, and 25-19 as they defeated the Pumas for the ninth time in the last 11 meetings.

The Eagles are looking for a season-series split with Indianapolis after falling to the Greyhounds in four sets last month. USI took the opening set, 25-21, but lost a six-point lead in the second set as it fell 29-27. The Greyhounds went on to a 25-22 victory in the third set before closing the match with an eight-point win in the fourth frame.

Indianapolis (14-5, 10-1 GLVC), which visits Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday night, has won 12 of its last 13 matches after going 2-1 at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover last weekend.

USI is currently tied with Northern Kentucky University for second in the GLVC East Division.
