EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team used an efficient offensive performance to defeat Northern Kentucky University 25-20, 28-26, 25-20 in its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Friday night at the Physical Activities Center.
USI (6-3, 1-0 GLVC) racked up a .347 attacking percentage and had at least eight kills from four different players as it defeated the Norse (5-6, 0-1 GLVC) in the regular season for the first time since 2004.
The Screaming Eagles opened the match with a .310 attacking percentage and a .750 side out percentage en route to a five-point win in the first set.
USI staved off a set-point in the second set before earning a two-point victory and a 2-0 lead in the match. The Eagles, who benefitted from two straight kills by senior outside hitter
Brittani Oliver late in the frame, won the last three points to overcome the 26-25 deficit.
Following the intermission, the Eagles' offense was on fire as it attacked at a .452 pace to overcome an early 3-0 deficit and cruise to the five-point win and its first sweep of the Norse since 2002.

Danielle LaGrange each had 11 kills to lead the Eagles, who have won a season-best three straight matches. Oliver had three blocks, five digs, and a .500 attacking percentage, while LaGrange finished with a .429 attacking percentage and five digs.
