USI-Bellarmine softball games moved to Friday

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball doubleheader with Bellarmine University has been moved to Friday at 1 p.m. (CDT) in Louisville, Kentucky.

The GLVC twinbill between the Screaming Eagles and the Knights was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was moved up two days due to the forecast of cold and wet weather in the Louisville area.

USI (5-11, 4-0 GLVC) resumes its GLVC slate after losing five straight at the Division II Rebel Spring Games.

Junior first baseman Brittany DeWeese led the Eagles during the six-game trip to Florida as she hit .450 with a double, two home runs, and 10 RBIs. On the year, DeWeese is the team's leader in batting average (.417), doubles (6), and RBIs (19).

Overall, the Eagles have four players that are hitting better than .300 on the season and three players with at least 10 RBIs.

Bellarmine (10-16, 3-3 GLVC) has lost five of its last six games and have three players hitting .300 or better. Paige Wills leads the Knights with a .360 batting average and nine doubles.

The Eagles return to the USI Softball Field March 27 when they host defending GLVC Tournament champion Northern Kentucky University.
