EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The 2nd-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team finished the 2009-10 campaign with a 79-71 victory over Quincy University on Senior Night at the Physical Activities Center. USI completed the season with an overall record of 24-3 and a GLVC mark of 15-3, while Quincy University goes into the GLVC Tournament with a record of 20-7, 11-7 GLVC.

With the victory, the Screaming Eagles have reached 24 victories for the 14th time since 1993-94. USI also had a 15-1 record at the PAC and beat every team in the GLVC at least once this year.

USI opened Senior Night by spotting Quincy a 7-0 lead and trailed by as many as eight points early, 12-4. The Eagles clawed their way back into the game, tying the game 14-14 with 11:36 to play in the opening 20 minutes.

Senior forward Brandon Carr (Baltimore, Maryland) gave USI the lead for good, 16-14, with a layup with 9:47 left in the half. USI would go on to finish the half with its largest lead before intermission, 37-28.

In the second half, the USI offense exploded and shot nearly 60 percent for the half (16-27) as it extended the lead to 19 points twice in the final 20 minutes. Quincy tried to make a game of it too and was only able to get back to within eight points, 79-71.

The Eagles had five players score in double figures, led by the 18-point effort of senior guard Jamar Smith (Peoria, Illinois). Smith had four three-point field goals in the game, extending his single-season school record to 108 this season. He also set the career record for points per game with 20.2, breaking the mark of 19.6 set by Stephen Jackson between 1983-87.

Senior guard Marvin Gray (Freeport, Bahamas) followed Smith in the scoring column with 13 points, while senior forward Tyrone Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior forward Mohamed Ntumba (Kinshasa, Congo) had 12 points each. Carr rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.

USI also got back on track on the glass, outrebounding Quincy, 34-30. Ntumba led USI with a game-high nine rebounds, while Gray was second on the team with six.

Following the game, USI honored its six seniors – Smith, Bradshaw, Carr, Gray, senior forward Isaac Stoll (Washington, Indiana), and the late Jeron Lewis (Ft. Wayne, Indiana).
