Meagan Kempf (Evansville, Indiana) converted a penalty kick at the 93:27 mark of overtime to give the Screaming Eagles a 1-0 victory over Drury University Friday night at Strassweg Field. USI, which had never beaten the Panthers in five previous attempts, rises to 7-3-0 overall and 5-3-0 in the GLVC, while Drury falls to 5-5-0, 3-4-0 GLVC.
After a scoreless 90-plus minutes of action and a combined 37 shots, Kempf was given the opportunity to end the game after being fouled in front of the Drury goal. The goal was Kempf's team-best sixth of the season.
Between the posts, sophomore goalkeeper
Stephanie Bodamer (Highland, Indiana) posted her seventh win and her fifth shutout of the season. Bodamer faced 16 shots and made four saves to earn the win.
USI outshot Drury overall, 22-16, but the Panthers held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Eagles concluded the short two-game home-stand Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they host Rockhurst University. The Hawks rose to 7-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 GLVC with a 4-0 win at Kentucky Wesleyan College on Friday.
