OMAHA, Neb.—Sophomore middle blocker Danielle LaGrange had 17 kills and nine blocks as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat Angelo State University 26-24, 21-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-6 Saturday afternoon at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Volleyball Classic.

After recording six team blocks and rallying from an early five-point deficit to win the first set, the Screaming Eagles found themselves trailing by a set when Angelo State (8-4) grabbed game two and three.

USI (6-6), however, hit .394 in the fourth set and posted a .800 side-out percentage to tie the match at 2-2. LaGrange and junior outside hitter Brittani Oliver each had five kills to help lead the Eagles to the victory in the fourth game.

The Eagles, who hit .261 in the fifth stanza, set the tone early in the deciding frame as they ran off four straight points to grab an early 4-0 lead. After Angelo State cut the Eagles' advantage to a single tally, USI went on a 7-0 run to take a commanding 11-3 lead. LaGrange, who had four kills in the fifth set, recorded kills on two of USI's final four points to help the Eagles gain the victory.

In addition to LaGrange, Oliver finished with 12 kills, 18 digs, and four blocks, while senior outside hitter Courtney Bealor had 10 kills and 16 digs. Senior right side hitter Jaclyn Johnson added seven kills and a.357 attacking percentage, while senior setter Melanie Pund had 46 assists, two aces, three blocks, and 16 digs.

USI also got a team-high 19 digs from sophomore libero Krista Coccaro and 11 digs from junior defensive specialist Janae Curnutt.

The Eagles return to action Friday when they open GLVC play at Bellarmine University. Match-time is slated for 6 p.m. (CDT).
