WALNUT, Calif.—Three University of Southern Indiana men's and women's outdoor track and field records fell late Thursday night as junior Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) and freshmen Adrienne Curtis (Louisville, Kentucky) and Dustin Emerick (Elmwood, Illinois) turned out record-setting performances at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Ballinger obliterated the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she finished first in the Olympic Developmental competition with an NCAA Division II-best time of 10 minutes, 26.73 seconds. The mark was nearly 23 seconds faster than the NCAA II automatic qualifying time Ballinger posted at the Washington Invitational two weeks ago and is nearly 17 seconds faster than Missy Burgin's former school-record time of 10 minutes, 43.26 seconds.

Curtis set a new freshman record in the women's 10,000 meters by finishing 11th in the University Open competition with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 36 minutes, 25.11 seconds. Her mark is nearly a minute under the provisional qualifying standard and less than 40 seconds off the NCAA II automatic qualifying time.

Emerick also finished 11th in the University Open competition of the 10,000 meters with a new USI freshman mark of 29 minutes, 57.41 seconds. His provisional qualifying time is less than 13 seconds off the automatic qualifying standard and ranks him third in the nation.

USI returns to action tonight as the rest of the Screaming Eagles compete at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet in Terre Haute, Indiana.
