OAKLAND CITY, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team got a combined 32 kills and a .492 attacking percentage from junior outside hitter Brittani Oliver, senior outside hitter Courtney Bealor, and sophomore middle blocker Danielle LaGrange as it defeated Oakland City University 25-22, 25-22, 25-10 Tuesday night at the Johnson Center.
USI (12-12) had to rally from early deficits to edge the Oaks (10-9) in the first two sets, then used a blistering .640 attacking percentage in the third game to blow past host Oakland City and finish the match in straight sets.
Oliver finished the match with 11 kills and a .588 attacking percentage, most of which came in the first two frames, while Bealor added 11 kills and a .409 attacking percentage. LaGrange chipped in 10 kills and attacked at a .450 pace as the Screaming Eagles hit .337 as a team.
Senior setter Melanie Pund racked up 35 assists and nine digs, while Bealor added 11 digs. Sophomore libero Krista Coccaro had a match-high 14 digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Stephanie Berg added 10 digs.
USI returns to action Friday when it visits three-time defending GLVC champion and 13th-ranked Lewis University. The rematch of last season's conference championship match is slated for 7 p.m. in Romeoville, Illinois.
