Men's golf wins Maryville Invitational

EUREKA, Mo. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team placed three players in the top to as it win the Maryville Fall Invitational Monday afternoon in Eureka, Missouri. The Screaming Eagles posted a two-round 607 with a tournament-best 307 during the first round Sunday and 300 in the final 18-holes Monday.

The Eagles won the tournament by four strokes over McKendree College, which shot a 611 (309-302), and Rockhurst University, which was third with a 615 (311, 304).

Leading the USI squad was junior Joel Smith, who tied for fifth overall with a 150 (74-76) and senior Matt Hancock, who tied for seventh with a 152 (78-74). Senior Drew Mathews rounded out the USI's top 10 finishers by tying for 10th with a two-round 153 (79-74).

USI finishes fall schedule October 19-20 at the Pasta House Invitational hosted by Drury University at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Missouri.
