CARBONDALE, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team recorded six top-10 finishes in its indoor season-opener Saturday at the SASF Invitational.
Sophomore distance runner
David Goodman (Valparaiso, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a third-place finish in the 3,000 meters, while junior distance runner
Matthew Zielske (Elkhart, Indiana) finished fourth in the mile with a time of four minutes, 22.93 seconds. Goodman finished the 3,000 in eight minutes, 47.59 seconds.
Freshman middle distance runner
Corey Dillon (LaPorte, Indiana) added a fourth-place finish as he crossed the finish line in the 800 meters with a time of one minute, 59.28 seconds. Senior sprinter
Tom Cunningham (Bridgeport, Illinois) was sixth in the 60 meters, narrowly missing an NCAA II provisional qualifying mark with his time of 7.01 seconds in the finals.
The Eagles are slated to resume action January 23-24 at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
