EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team won its second straight match with a 2-0 victory over the University of Illinois-Springfield Saturday evening at Strassweg Field. USI raises its record to 4-5 overall, while UIS falls to 5-3-0.
After a scoreless first half, the Screaming Eagles got on the scoreboard at 45:39 on a goal by sophomore forward
Dan Dormeier (Newburgh, Indiana). USI sophomore forward
Simon Rawnsley (England) slipped a cross in front of the box to Dormeier for his second goal of the season.
USI sealed the match with a goal at 52:53 to make the score, 2-0. Sophomore midfielder
Justin Fox (Avon, Indiana) took advantage of a scramble in front of the Prairie Stars' net to score his second goal of the season. Fox was assisted on the play by freshman defender
Jordan Louks (Brownsburg, Indiana), who was credited with his first collegiate assist.
Between the posts, senior goalkeeper
Andrew Haley (Wentzville, Missouri) recorded his second straight shutout and his fourth of the season. Haley only had to face five total shots and made two saves.
The Eagles, who are 2-1-0 during this five-match homestand, resume action Thursday when they host Maryville University for a 7 p.m. contest. USI concludes the homestand October 5 when Quincy University comes to Strassweg Field for a noon kick-off.
