SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team was blasted by Drury University, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Missouri. USI falls to 2-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the GLVC, while Drury rises to 4-0-0, 2-0-0 GLVC.
Drury opened the match by shooting itself to a 3-0 lead by halftime. The Panther scored their first goal of the match at the 12:52 mark and upped the score to 3-0 with goals at 43:26 and 44:02 before the intermission.
After halftime, the Screaming Eagles cut into the Panther lead when freshman midfielder
Caleb Johnson (Evansville, Indiana) scored his second goal of the year at 53:54. Johnson made the score 3-1 off a pass from junior midfielder

Three minutes after USI scored, Drury responded with three goals to put the match out of reach. The Panthers would score at 56:55, 82:44, and 88:20 for the 6-1 final.
Overall, the Panthers out shot the Eagles, 22-4, and had 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field next weekend and start a five-match homestand by hosting Rockhurst University Friday at 5 p.m.
