USI sophomore right-hander Casey Geiger (Albion, Indiana) pitched the final two innings for the Eagles Tuesday night. He surrendered an unearned run and a pair of hits in the eighth, while pitching a perfect ninth inning.

At the plate, the Eagles scored all of the runs they would need in the fifth inning when junior shortstop Kevin O'Hair (Scottsdale, Arizona) and senior centerfielder Michael Beaven (Indianapolis, Indiana) scored on a throwing error by SIUE shortstop Cory Bunner.

Leading 2-0, USI put the game away the seventh inning by scoring four times on two hits and five walks to make the score 6-0. The Eagles would add another run in the eighth to make the score 7-0 before the Cougars put a run across the plate in the bottom half of the inning for the 7-1 final.

The Eagle offensive attack was led by Beaven, junior second baseman Josh Huebner (Evansville, Indiana), and junior rightfielder Royle Beach (Aurora, Illinois) with two hits each. Beaven and Huebner also scored two runs each in the victory.
