EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team is heading to Kissimmee, Florida, and the Division II Rebel Spring Games for a 10-game stint that features five contests against teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
USI (4-8) starts the stretch Saturday at 8 a.m. (CST) against the GLIAC's Northwood University before facing Southwest Minnesota State University at 10 a.m.
The Screaming Eagles also play the GLIAC's Wayne State University and No. 16 Grand Valley State University Sunday at 8 a.m. (CDT) and noon. The Eagles also play Ashland University, Monday at 2 p.m., and Ferris State University, Thursday at 2 p.m.
USI's contest with Wayne State will be the third meeting in as many weeks between the two teams. The Eagles won the first game, 5-3, in Decatur, Alabama, and the second game, 11-7, in Edwardsville, Illinois.
In addition to Southwest Minnesota State, other non-region opponents for the Eagles this week include Upper Iowa University (Monday at 10 a.m.), the University of Central Missouri (Tuesday at 8 a.m.), East Stroudsburg University (Tuesday at noon), and Shippensburg University (Thursday at 4 p.m.).
Following the Rebel Spring Games, USI travels to Indianapolis, Indiana, for its GLVC-opener against the University of Indianapolis on March 15. The Eagles also play Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, on March 16. The USI-Indianapolis doubleheader is scheduled for an 11 a.m. (CDT) start, while the USI-Saint Joseph's doubleheader is scheduled for a noon start time.
The Eagles open their home schedule March 21 when they entertain Rockhurst University in a GLVC doubleheader at the USI Softball Field.
