Eagles return to action Saturday

Friday's games cancelled

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team returns to action Saturday at the University of Alabama-Huntsville Charger Chillout in Decatur, Alabama. The cross-over style tournament was originally slated to begin Friday with two games, but Friday's contests have been cancelled due to the threat of inclement weather.

USI (1-3) begins the weekend's slate with No. 23 Georgia College & State University and No. 20 Wayne State University Saturday at noon and 2 p.m., respectively. The Screaming Eagles finish the weekend Sunday with No. 15 Valdosta State University at 11 a.m. and the University of West Alabama at 3 p.m.

The Eagles have seen a power surge in the first four games of the season as they have belted seven home runs. USI's record for home runs in a single season is 28, set last year.

Junior rightfielder Lacey Ligmanowski (Homer Glen, Illinois) tied a single-game school record by sending three balls over the fence in USI's 5-2 victory over the University of Arkansas-Monticello last Saturday. Sophomore designated player Sara Loete (Pekin, Illinois) hit a combined three home runs in USI's first two games last Friday.
