EVANSVILLE, Ind.– The 18th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team closed out the 2008 calendar year with a 107-58 victory Tuesday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI raises its overall record to 12-2, while Tiffin falls to 1-9 in 2008-09.

The Screaming Eagles also finished December with a perfect 5-0 mark, including a pair of GLVC victories to start league play, and extended its overall winning streak to 11 games. The winning streak is the longest since the 2004-05 squad that won a school record 17-straight.

USI started slowly against Tiffin, but used a 9-0 run to take an 11-5 lead and never looked back. The Eagles would extend the lead to 31-points by halftime, 57-26, and would lead by as many as 51 points twice in the final half.

Individually, the Eagles had five players score in double figures and were led by the 16-point effort of senior forward Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York). Pimble was six-of-10 from the field, two-of-three from beyond the arc, and was a perfect two-of-two from the line. He also collected a pair of assists and had three steals.

USI junior forward Brandon Russ (Cincinnati, Ohio) followed Pimble in the scoring column with 14 points off the bench, while junior guard Marvin Gray (Freeport, Bahamas) had 12 points. Junior forward Brandon Carr (Baltimore, Maryland) and junior guard Jamar Smith (Peoria, Illinois) rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points each.

Tonight's game was Smith's USI debut, scoring his first points as a Screaming Eagle on a three-point field goal with 7:46 left in the first half.

On the boards, the Eagles dominated the Dragons, 42-30, and were led by Carr with five rebounds. Four of Carr's rebounds came on the offensive end.

The Eagles begin the second half of their six-game homestand Friday when they restart GLVC play by hosting Saint Joseph's College, which is 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the league. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
