EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Four University of Southern Indiana women's basketball players reached double-figures Saturday evening as the Screaming Eagles erased an early seven-point deficit to defeat Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foe Edinboro University, 88-80, at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (2-1) found itself trailing 14-7 five minutes into the game, but a quick 7-0 spurt that lasted less than thirty seconds put the Eagles into a tie. Sophomore guard Ellen Young (Salem, Illinois) had five of her 18 points in the run that got the Eagles back into the contest.

The Eagles got buckets from four different players in a span of two minutes to put together an 8-2 run and turn a 31-30 edge into an eight-point lead later in the opening period. USI, which shot 52.8 percent in the first half, extend its lead to 10 (48-38) by the break.

Edinboro (2-1) charged back in the second half, cutting the Eagles' lead to 56-51 with 13:35 to play in the game.

Senior forward/center Brittany Neuman (Huntingburg, Indiana), however, scored a bucket and connected on three straight free throws to spark a 14-0 run that put USI up 70-51 with less than 11 minutes remaining on the clock.

Neuman, who had 15 points in the first half, finished the contest with a career-high 24 points and 13 rebounds. She went 9-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.

The Eagles, who also got a season-high 15 points from freshman guard Rinesha Soaper (Henderson, Kentucky) and 11 points from senior forward/center Ninette Evans (Memphis, Tennessee), extend their lead to as many as 21 before settling for the eight-point victory. Soaper also racked up five steals as the Eagles forced the Fighting Scots into 25 turnovers.

As a team, the Eagles shot 51.5 percent from the floor and held a slight 38-34 advantage on the boards. They also dealt out 17 assists and picked up 15 steals. Junior guard/forward Abby Williams (St. Joseph, Indiana) had five assists and two steals to go with her four points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Amie Newhart (Mulberry, Indiana) finished with six points, four rebounds, five assists, and three steals as USI won for the second straight outing.

Head Coach Rick Stein also picked up his 155th victory at the helm of the USI women's basketball program, putting him just four behind former Head Coach Chancellor Dugan for first-place all-time at USI.

The Eagles return to action Monday when they host Mid-Continent University in the first part of a men's and women's doubleheader. Tip-off is slated for 5:15 p.m. at the PAC.
