USI falls in final seconds of overtime, 2-1

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team lost in the final seconds of overtime to Quincy University, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 4-7-0 overall and 1-5-0 GLVC, while Quincy goes to 7-4-0, 4-2-0 GLVC.

Quincy sophomore midfielder Erin Conroy scored the game-winner with 18 seconds left in the "sudden victory" overtime. Conroy scored from within five yards in front of the net.

The Hawks dominated the match, outshooting USI 32-9 and had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2. USI's defense kept the Screaming Eagles in the match, making a total of 17 saves. Eagles' freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Bodamer (Highland, Indiana) made 16 of the saves, one short of tying the USI single game record.

USI had control of the match early, taking a 1-0 lead in the first half. USI sophomore midfielder Shauni Boudia (Noblesville, Indiana) scored her third goal of the year off a pass from freshman midfielder Meagan Kempf (Evansville, Indiana) at 35:08.

Quincy tied the match, 1-1, 45 second into the second half when freshman forward Aimee Ubriaco scored off a pass from junior midfielder Megan Schwermer.

The Eagles return to the road next week in the GLVC when they travel to Bellarmine University Friday for a 2:55 p.m. (CDT) match and to 24th-ranked Northern Kentucky University on October 12 for an 11 a.m. (CDT) contest.
