LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team could not overcome an eight minute scoring drought in falling to Bellarmine University, 65-49, Saturday evening in Louisville, Kentucky. USI falls to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine goes to 9-6, 4-4 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles controlled most of the first half, building a 25-18 lead with 5:14 left till the intermission, when their offensive production stalled. The Eagles' offensive drought allowed the Knights to take control of the game with a 12-3 run and the lead by halftime, 30-28.

The USI scoring drought continued for the first five minutes of the second half as Bellarmine built a 12-point lead, 42-32. The Knights would extend the lead to as many as 18 points, 50-32, with 11:48 to play.

The Eagles cut the margin down to 11 points with a 10-3 run, but could get no closer than 53-42 with five minutes to play. Bellarmine was a blistering 78.6 percent (11-14) from the field in the second half, compared to USI's 33.3 percent (7-21) from the outside.

Individually, USI continued to be led by senior forward/center Norman Plummer (Cincinnati, Ohio). Plummer posted his eighth double-double of the year with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds.

USI senior guard Tyson Schnitker (Robinson, Illinois) followed Plummer in the scoring column with 11 points.

The Eagles return home for a two-game homestand next week, starting with Quincy University on January 24. The homestand concludes when USI hosts Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on January 26.
