KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team could not overcome thunderstorms or Rockhurst University in losing 4-1 Sunday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri. USI falls to 4-7-1 overall and 2-5-0 in the GLVC, while Rockhurst goes to 8-2-1, 5-2-1 GLVC.

The match lasted nearly four hours after a delay for one hour and 40 minutes due to thunderstorms in the Kansas City area with just over 11 minutes to play in the first half.

After the first half finally concluded with a both teams scoreless, Rockhurst went on the offensive and exploded to a 3-0 lead before USI could get onto the scoreboard. The Hawks would score the three goals in a span of eight minutes between 58:29 and 66:02.

The Eagles would get onto the scoreboard at 74:30 when sophomore midfielder Paul Hutchens (Libertyville, Illinois) recorded his second goal of the year to make the score 3-1. Hutchens scored off a corner kick from freshman forward Dan Dormeier (Newburgh, Indiana).

Rockhurst finished the scoring with one more goal to make the score 4-1 at 88:08. The Hawks out shot the Eagles, 16-9, while the teams were tied in corner kicks, 5-5.

The Eagles look to get back on when they return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field next week for a two-match homestand. The USI homestand starts by hosting the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on October 5 and concludes with Lewis University on October 7.
