ROLLA, Mo.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team defeated the University of Missouri-Rolla 30-25, 30-15, 30-19 in front 1,021 fans Friday night.
USI (7-4, 2-1 GLVC) used an 8-1 run to close out the first game and take the early lead in the match. The Screaming Eagles' defense held the Miners (1-12, 1-3 GLVC) to attacking percentages of .024 and negative .024 in games two and three, respectively, as USI went on to its second three-game sweep of the 2007 season.
Senior middle blocker
Molly Rahman (Ferdinand, Indiana) led the Eagles with 13 kills, while junior middle blocker
Meg Buschman (Reynolds, Indiana) had nine kills and a .500 attacking percentage. Freshman outside hitter
Brittani Oliver (Indianapolis, Indiana) had eight kills, a .389 attacking percentage, and five blocks to aid USI.
Senior setter
Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) finished with 30 assists, while sophomore right side hitter
Melanie Pund (Ferdinand, Indiana) and junior libero
Amber Gogel (Ferdinand, Indiana) finished with 15 and 11 digs, respectively.
USI (7-4, 2-1 GLVC) returns to action when it visits the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday at 3 p.m.
