WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.—The No. 24 University of Southern Indiana women's cross country team finished second in the Little State competition and sixth overall at the Indiana Intercollegiate Friday. USI scored 89 points in the Little State competition and 224 overall points.

Sophomore Mary Ballinger (Chesterton, Indiana) led the Screaming Eagles with a second-place finish in the Little State competition and an eighth-place overall finish. Junior Marcia Weflen (Rossville, Indiana) finished 15th in the Little State competition, 45th overall.

USI, which had seven of the top 30 finishers in the Little State competition, returns to action September 29 when it competes in the Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
