Leading 1-0 in the top of sixth, the Greyhounds scored six times with two-out to boost their lead to 7-0. The flood gates were opened when USI junior shortstop Kevin O'Hair (Scottsdale, Arizona) committed field errors on back-to-back batters with the bases loaded to make the score 3-0.

After the Greyhounds increased the score to 4-0 when USI senior right-hander Adam Vetter (Crown Point, Indiana) hit a batter, Indianapolis third baseman Daren Johnson cleared the base with a three-RBI doubles to right-center to make the score 7-0.

The Eagles tried to chip away at the margin, scoring a run in three of the last four innings, but could not put together a big inning and left 10 runners on-base. USI sophomore designated hitter Chad Werry (New Harmony, Indiana) and junior second baseman Darin Mastorianni (Huntersville, North Carolina) had RBI singles to led USI offensively.
