Box Score
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 12th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team reached 20 wins for the 15th straight season with an 83-61 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis Thursday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI is 20-3 overall and 9-3 in the GLVC, while UMSL falls to 7-13, 2-10 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles took command of the game early on a 13-0 run to begin the contest. USI held UMSL without a bucket until the 13:25 mark and increased the lead to as many as 16 points, 26-10, with 8:42 left in the half. The teams went to their locker rooms at the intermission with USI leading 39-30.
After the Rivermen cut the margin to six to start the second half, the Eagles reeled off a 15-2 run to put the game away. USI would never see its lead drop to fewer than 13 points and would lead by as many as 24 points in the final half.
Along the way, the Eagles would set a single-game record by hitting a perfect 19-of-19 from the charity stripe. The previous team-best was set by the 1991-92 squad that hit 24-of-25 against Campbellsville University.
Almost one-third of USI's offense came from senior centerÂ
Rashard Sullivan (Miami, Florida). Sullivan posted a career-best 26 points, 15 coming in the second half. He also had five dunks in the game and led the team with seven rebounds.
USI senior guardÂ
Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana) followed Sullivan in the scoring column with 14 points. Hall deposited a pair of three-point field goals, pulling to within one of single-season record of 82 that he established last year.
The Eagles resume action with their Homecoming game against the University of Missouri-Rolla Saturday at the PAC. Game time is 3:15 p.m. The Miners fell to 7-13 overall and 2-10 in the GLVC after losing to Kentucky Wesleyan College, 106-97, in Owensboro, Kentucky.
