EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team recorded its second straight victory as it defeated the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 2-0, Friday evening at Strassweg Field. USI raised its record to 5-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the GLVC, while UWP fell to 7-4-1, 4-4-1 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles have played well at Strassweg Field this season, posting a 4-1-1 record, while struggling on the road with a 1-6-0 mark.
USI took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute of the game when senior forward
Mallory Minor (Evansville, Indiana) scored off a pass by sophomore midfielder
Shauni Boudia (Noblesville, Indiana). The Screaming Eagles added insurance in the 63rd minute when senior forward
Katie Grossman (Evansville, Indiana) found the back of the net for the second time this season.
The shutout victory was the first of the season for USI and senior goalkeeper
Meagan Homolla (Portage, Indiana). Homolla ranks third all-time at USI with eight career shutouts.
Overall, USI out shot UWP, 9-5, and held the Rangers without a shot in the second half.
USI completes the homestand Sunday when Lewis University comes to Strassweg Field for a noon match. The Flyers raised their record to 5-8-0 overall and 3-6-0 in the GLVC with a 3-2 overtime win at Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday afternoon.
