Road woes continue for Eagles

QUINCY, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team lost to Quincy University 30-22, 30-23, 28-30, 30-25 Friday night.

It marks the third straight loss for the Screaming Eagles (12-12, 7-9 GLVC) and the fourth straight set back on the road.

The Eagles struggled offensively as they hit just .082 for the match, including a negative .050 in the first game.

Sophomore setter Melanie Pund (Ferdinand, Indiana) was two kills shy of a triple double to lead the Eagles. Pund finished with eight kills, 37 assists, and 15 digs in her first start at setter since the second weekend of the season.

Senior middle blocker Molly Rahman (Ferdinand, Indiana) added a team-high 14 kills and 10 blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Courtney Bealor (LaPorte, Indiana) chipped in 12 kills.

Sophomore defensive specialist Julia Ridley (Madisonville, Kentucky) led USI with 24 digs in her first start at libero, while freshman outside hitter Brittani Oliver (Indianapolis, Indiana) added 13 digs. Junior defensive specialist Amber Gogel (Ferdinand, Indiana) and freshman defensive specialist Janae Curnutt (Arcadia, Indiana) each had 12 digs in the loss.

USI, which is 3-7 on the road this season, finishes its road slate Saturday when it visits No. 16 Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for a 3 p.m. match in Edwardsville, Illinois.
