LOUISVILLE, Ky. ?he University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team lost to Bellarmine University, 4-2, Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky. USI falls to 4-11-1 overall and 2-9-0 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine goes to 11-7-0, 7-4-0 GLVC.
The Knights did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard, finding the back of the net 29 seconds into the match. BU senior forward Ryan Lederman gave the nights a 1-0 lead on a shot from inside the box.
USI evened the match at 1-1 when senior midfielder
Carl Carr (Evansville, Indiana) converted a penalty kick at the 18:29 mark. The goal was Carr's fourth of the season.
After halftime, Bellarmine scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 advantage before USI could get back onto the scoreboard. The Knights scored at 49:53, 62:12, and 64:58 to put the game away.
USI cut the margin back to two goals at the 65:51 mark on a goal by freshman midfielder
Justin Fox (Avon, Indiana). Fox's unassisted goal made the score 4-2 and was his second of the year.
The Eagles finish the 2007 campaign with a three-match homestand, beginning next weekend. USI completes the GLVC schedule by hosting the University of Missouri-St. Louis October 19 at 7:30 p.m. and the University of Missouri-Rolla October 21 at 2:30 p.m. The USI-UMR match-up on October 21 will be Senior Day for the Eagles.
The final game of 2007 will be October 24 when Harris-Stowe State University visits USI and Strassweg Field for a 3 p.m. match.
