KENOSHA, Wis.— The 9th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team continues to struggle in Saturday road games, losing to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 80-75, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. USI falls to 19-3 overall and 8-3 in the GLVC, while UW-Parkside goes to 15-7 overall, 6-5 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles have lost each of their three Saturday road games in the GLVC this year, the last two in overtime.

The Eagles fell behind early in the opening half, trailing by as many as eight points twice in the first seven minutes. USI fought back to tie the game at 21-21 with 7:21 left before halftime. The Rangers would take at 34-33 lead into the intermission after six lead changes in the final seven minutes of the half.

The halftime deficit was only second of the year for the Eagles.

USI took an early lead in the second half, 44-37, on an 11-3 run. UW-Parkside retook the lead 47-46 with a 10-0 run and would have the largest lead of the final 13 minutes of regulation, 61-57, with 5:44 left.

Eagles' senior guard Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana) gave USI a chance to win with five points in the final 30 seconds on a lay-up and a pair of free throws to make the score 66-63 with 11 seconds left. The Rangers sent the game into overtime on an NBA three-pointer by sophomore forward LaVontay Fenderson with one second to play.

In the overtime, UW-Parkside outscored USI 14-9 and led all but 20 seconds of the extra period.

USI junior guard Kenny Page led the Eagles by tying a season-high with 21 points. Hall was the only other Eagle to score in double figures with 20 points, hitting four three-pointers.

The loss allows Quincy University to take over the top spot in the West Division by a half-game over USI. Quincy won at home over Drury University, 78-74. The Eagles are still two-and-a-half games ahead of third place Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the division.

The Eagles return home next week for at two-game homestand when they host the University of Missouri-St. Louis February 1 and the University of Missouri-Rolla February 3. The February 3 contest will be homecoming for USI.
