ASHLAND, Ohio—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team defeated Great Lakes Regional foe Wheeling Jesuit University 30-21, 28-30, 30-21, 30-12 Friday evening to salvage a split on the first day of the Ashland University Invitational. The Screaming Eagles lost to No. 9 University of North Alabama 30-25, 30-25, 30-27 earlier in the day.
USI (4-2) completes its weekend slate with matches against Palm Beach Atlantic University and Ashland Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (CDT), respectively.

No. 9 North Alabama pulled away late in games two and three and fought off a strong comeback bid in the third game to defeat USI 30-25, 30-25, 30-27.

Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana) led the Eagles with nine kills and .333 attacking percentage, while fellow classmate
Emily Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) chipped in eight kills, five blocks, and a team-high-tying nine digs. Junior middle blocker

Chelse Doubler added 17 kills and a .500 attacking clip as the Eagles defeated Wheeling Jesuit 30-21, 28-30, 30-21, 30-12.
Molly Rahman chipped in 14 kills, five blocks, and a .520 attacking percentage in the victory.
